Chiropractic Adjustments

Dr. Kirkendall uses a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. Each individual is different and therefore the techniques that are used will be based on your needs and on our clinical judgment and years of experience.

Dr. Kirkendall is trained in several different adjusting methods from a "hands-on" adjustment to using special instruments. Please let her know if you have a preference. Some of her techniques include:
- Diversified
- Cox Flexion/Distraction
- Thompson
- Gonstead
- Activator Methods
- Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)
- Extremity Adjusting

With some techniques, the energy of the adjustment produces a slight "popping" sound. This sound is from the shifting gas and fluids in the joint, similar to a suction cup being released. This sound is not an indicator of the value or effectiveness of the adjustment.

Although the primary focus of most chiropractic adjustments is to improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nerve interference, virtually all joints in the body can be adjusted to help restore proper range of motion.

Spinal Rehabilitation

Patients at Kirkendall Chiropractic PLLC benefit from individualized rehab treatment plans that are customized to fit their needs. Rehabilitation, stretching, and exercising are important to re-train your body's ability to function fully.

An effective physical therapy treatment regimen is designed to facilitate motion, loosen stiff muscles, and restore functionality. The individualized plans combined the use of Chiropractic adjustments, physical modalities, therapeutic exercise, and making modifications in daily activities that continue to promote those improvements. Keeping the full movement, good flexibility and nice muscle tone that your body would prefer is a smart and proactive way to keep and maintain optimum health overall.

Nutrition

We all know the importance of a well-balanced diet. If we eat healthy, our bodies will be more likely to be healthy and strong. On the other hand, if we eat a poor diet, our bodies will lack the nutrition needed to allow our bodies to function at a healthy level. The sad truth, however, is that due to the ever growing number of "diets" on the market there is confusion on what a healthy diet really is.

Dr. Kirkendall offers nutritional counseling and addresses lifestyle changes to help improve the health of our patients. Often times it is important to augment our meals through the use of high-quality vitamins and supplements. This allows us to reach the high level of nutrition our bodies truly need to function. Please remember not all vitamins are created equal, we offer information to help you when it comes to purchasing the right vitamin or supplement.

Kinesio/sports taping

Kinesio taping is a non-invasive modality used to treat musculoskeletal disorders, prevent athletic injuries, and/or manage lymphedema. This method stems from kinesiology, which is the scientific study of human body and muscle movement. Muscles not only attribute to the movement of our bodies but also to the movement of lymph and blood flow. Kinesio tape is an elastic tape that is worn on the body in specific applications to help activate specific muscles to perform correctly, to provide support without limiting the range of motion, to aid in rehabilitation and also to prevent overuse injuries. When used correctly, kinesio tape may also help reduce inflammation by aiding in lymph flow. Several taping techniques can be used depending on a wearer's specific needs.
